Eco terms

Hello my dear students,

So, I was reading some articles online about which words to use so that you appear more "eco-friendly." This is mostly directed towards companies, however the terminology can be used in other contexts as well. I personally believe it shows how we as a society like to rationalize and lie to ourselves and others. From the many articles that I have read and the many projects that I have worked on I have only found one way to really be "eco-friendly." Consume less.  It seems to me that no matter what we do we will produce some type of waste. That, in and of itself, seems to be quite natural. On the other hand, in excess of waste will poison  the world we live in. We are execessive beings for sure. What's your take on it?

  1. Looking the words in the article "going-green", now days it's usual hear words like "biobased", "energy-efficient", "green" or "recyclable" on items that we found at malls. But the true is that just the final product is the eco-friendly, because all the process that was used to make the final product is chemical-full and also waste a lot of resources making it so... Consume less, like you said, must be applied by enterprises and people.

    1. It is hard to tell companies to produce less since their goals are to make more money. And we all know what that means; sell-sell-sell!

  2. I think that's a political issue, beacuse if comsumption goes down, the economy will collapse too. So the individual change isn't enought, we, as a society, need to move to a better economic model. I love the model used by The Anarchist collectives in Aragon, but there are new models, that includes technology as The Venus Project; but the main pont is to remove "porfit", i think if we don't remove "profit" we will never have an eco-friendly society.

    1. That sounds very, "communist." Yet true. Profit drives companies to produce and sell more which in turn leads to more waste.
