Food for thought

Dear students,
Welcome to my blog. I would like to start of on a positive note so I will begin by talking about something that I find educational and helpful in my life; Chinese proverbs. They seem to bring a certain mysticism wrapped in wisdom. Allow me to post two that are related to education. Please read them and then comment on what you think the ancient masters intended for us to understand and how you interpret the proverb. Enjoy!!

  • A Jade stone is useless before it is polished; a man is good-for-nothing until he is educated.
  • A closed mind is like a closed book; just a block of wood.

  2. Hello Pedro! xD ... i think that the two proverbs are awesome, i think that the authors wanted to highlight the importance of knowledge for human beings. Our brain and consciousness have a lot of potentiality to develop =)

  3. Hi there! when I was thinking in those Chinese proverbs the only thing that came to my mind is that the Japanese and Chinese cultures are always looking for kind of illumination through discipline. Take a look of this video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCZMxmZPGo8 it's in Spanish but it's really good to brake bad preconceptions in our culture.
